The beauty of rhythm explored


Kala Darshan in association with Vadhini Indian Arts Academy and the Consulate General of India Cape Town presents Taal Chakra – The Rhythm of Life on Saturday May 7 at the Joseph Stone Auditorium in Athlone, at 6pm.

Featuring Dr Kanada Narhari on sitar; Shri Revash Maharaj on tabla and Kathak dancer Shri Manesh Maharaj, the show explores the beauty of rhythm and raga and is a classical treat for musicians and dancers. Tickets cost R70 and can be bought from MR Trading or Shayona, Pine Road, Rylands, or call 082 577 1555.

There will also be a free lecture on Sunday May 8, at Starling Primary School, at 10.30am, by the artists in which they will analyse the performance, providing insight into the work and its conceptualisation, with a question and answer session.
