De Tyger resident Bianca Jordaan has made it to the top 100 in the Mrs SA competition.
According to the organisers, this isn’t your typical beauty pageant: it gives married women between the ages of 24 and 49 the chance to compete.
“Glamour and sophistication are part of the criteria, but the women who enter and win all have those relatable stories we’re looking for,” they said in a press statement last week.
This year, the pageant has attracted the most entries in its history.
Ms Jordaan, a freelance make-up artist, will take part in the semi-finals weekend, in Johannesburg, at the end of April, where only 25 women will be selected as finalists.
The mother of two boys, aged 2 and 5 months, said Mrs SA was the first pagaent she could relate to.
Her husband works in Ghana, and when he’s home, family time is important. “Our family is completed with a Jack Russel and a rescue cat,” she said
She grew up in Parow and moved to De Tyger four years ago.
“I entered Mrs South Africa to use it as a platform to initiate change and awareness on causes that affect everyone in my community,” she said.
